Where are you from?   I am from the US Virgin Islands (USVI).

Where were you born?  I was born on St. Thomas, 1 of 4 islands within the USVI.

What is your favorite food? Fried plantain

How old are you?   I am 27-years-old. ( I stumble on this question every time I’m asked in person.)

Where did you go to school?   K-12, I attended the All Saints Cathedral School, a small parochial school on St. Thomas. For college, I attended Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, MD.

What was your major?  I majored in Communication with specializations in Journalism and Public Relations/Advertising. I also have a Master’s degree in Emerging Media.

What do you do for a living?  For almost 4 years, I worked as a communications specialist at a local nonprofit. Currently, I am working on the administrative side of disaster recovery in the USVI under a federal program.

How has your life changed after the storms?   I think I speak for most when I say that we are still in recovery mode. For readers that are unaware, the USVI was impacted by two Category 5 hurricanes (Irma and Maria) in September of 2017. It’s been one hell of a year since the storms made landfall in the VI  but each day gets better as we continue to rebuild.

What is your blog about? AlexBri.com is a lifestyle & storytelling blog. As a journalism major in college, I fell in love with storytelling. I believe that shared experiences transform lives.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?   My favorite social media platform is Twitter. Aside from the witty jokes, twitter is a powerful tool that allows communities of people to be seen and heard.

Do you have a pet?   I have a 7-yr-old male blue Pitbull named Marley. He is one big loveable ball of energy.

How many countries have you been to? I’ve been to more than 5 countries/territories: US, United Kingdom, Greece, Trinidad, Bahamas, and the British Virgin Islands. I plan to do some more traveling at the end of the year. 

Have you ever been in a pageant?  I have only competed in one pageant. I participated in the 57th annual Virgin Islands Carnival Queen Pageant.  The experience was definitely life changing. I think every young girl should compete in a pageant or talent competition at least once in her life. I look forward to speaking more about this event on my youtube channel.

What is the story behind the name, AlexBri?   My first name is Brittany and my middle name is Alexis. I changed my twitter handle to AlexBri in 2013. (My husband likes to take credit for coming up with the name.) There is more to this story, so stay tuned.
